Off to the printer in just a few days!

Hello, Comics Comics family,

As we scramble to dot all our i's, make final tweaks to the stories, and get the ads we've sold assembled and placed, all while preparing for New York Comic Con (come say hi at booth K15 in Artist Alley!), I just wanted everyone to know we are still at work on the backer surveys.

We're using Black Box for reward fulfillment, and we should have everything sorted out with them shortly. We've gotten a few questions about add-ons, and Black Box has informed us that they are able to do surveys with add-ons, but that their version is in beta, so we're taking time to make sure everything is working correctly before the surveys go out. But the upshot is that we will have the ability to add more books and swag for those who have been asking.

The books print this month, with the hardcovers taking a little longer than the standard editions, but everything that isn't a custom item should go out in November.

As a thank-you for everyone's patience while we prepare the surveys, here are the nearly finished designs for the standard cover and nearly completed paints on the hardcover edition.

For more progress art and updates, and to see some of our other books come together, please consider following SBI Press and Comics Comics on social media:

We did it! YOU did it!

Hello, Comics Comics family,

That...was intense. Issue #1 is funded. It's happening. And we owe it all to you, and to our staggering array of talented comedians and cartoonists.

It's gonna take me a couple days to process what happened. Which I don't really have, because now we have to finish designing the book and get it to the printer.

We're also already at work on issue #2. The money we raise in the remaining four hours goes to the next issue and keeping the gap between issues as small as we can. We are far from done bringing the worlds of comics and comics together.

More in the coming days. We're all kinda looking at each other dazed right now, but we can't thank you enough. You are our heroes.

Many hours of sleep later—surveys coming soon!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 25, 2018 at 04:44:42 PM

Hello, Comics Comics family,

Thursday night, Team CC was manning the Kickstarter until it ended at midnight, then half celebrating, half planning next steps, half collapsing. There was enough excitement for three halves.

Friday was...the next day. Lots of staring blankly at a screen, trying to remember what my job is now that it's not posting all day about how much money we have and how much we need and what we're going to do with it. But also getting two books to the printer: Oddwell #3 and the first collection of Hellicious, both of which somehow came out nicely despite my no longer having a functioning brain.

That night it kind of all hit at once, and I got my first good night's sleep since we launched. Saturday was mostly a sleeping day.

But Monday we are getting back on the horse. We'll be shepherding the book to its conclusion, with the final colors and letters and designs getting finished; we'll be planning our next Kickstarters (one for more Comics Comics and another for a project we're not ready to announce but which will make fans of the extended Starburns and Dan Harmon families very happy); and we'll be preparing the surveys so that everyone who bought a custom piece of art or ad or print will be able to select their reward and everyone who pledged for more than one thing can make sure they get what they ordered.

So look out for the surveys this week and for more preview art as we get everything ready for print.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for believing in this project and helping us make it happen.

THIS IS IT! We ride or die today!

Hello, Comics Comics family,

Wow. We are up over $31,000. We have nearly 900 backers. Holy crap, we're gonna make it!

And it all comes down to today. The germ of it was years ago, and it's lived in my head so long that it's hard to believe it's almost a thing in the world. And our beyond-incredible team of Patton, Jackie, Sara, Rose, Eliot, Carolyn, Troy, Sarah, Tania, Robert, Evan, Michelle, Victoria, Jio, Sarah, Sal, Taylor, Micah, Chris, and Richard have made it even better than I dreamed back when I was splitting my time between slinging comics at the Stumptown Comics Fest and watching comics at the Bridgetown Comedy Fest.

We've asked a lot of you, but if we ever needed you to tell a friend that they'll love this project too, today's the day. If you've been considering upping your pledge but were waiting to see if we really needed it, today we do. At almost any tier, an extra $5, $10, or $15 gets you another cool thing. If you can't decide which to pledge, an increase and a note letting us know what the increase was for gets you both. We added the signed hardcovers late, so we couldn't change descriptions, but any high tier that includes the hardcover now includes the signed hardcover. If you think one of our custom comedian drawings or original covers would look good on your wall, we'll be forever in your debt.

And if you've given us what you can afford and more just isn't doable, you've already done so much for us. For so long, something like this book would just be a fantasy, but Kickstarter and you have changed that. You believing in us made this happen just as much as me dreaming of it, or Starburns reaching out to our writers and artists. You made this dream come true, and the least we can do is give you a beautiful, funny book. I think that's fair.

Thank you.
