37 hours left! Just $8.5k to go!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Sep 19, 2018 at 10:23:55 PM

Hello, Comics Comics family,

Thanks to all of you, we have covered a lot of ground in the last few days, but there's still more to go. The great community we have behind us is our best weapon now, so please consider increasing your pledge for a hardcover, signed hardcover, the exclusive editions combo, original art, or just to help us out a little, if you can.

And it's Wednesday! Have an awesome New Comics Day and mention us to your retailer if you get a chance. We have two tiers for them:

  • $30 for 20 copies of the standard comic
  • $100 for 10 copies of the Kickstarter-exclusive hardcover. They can't get this one through Previews, and we'll make one of the ten a signed copy!

Thanks so much for your support, and we're almost there!

Cover painting progress art + final days!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 18, 2018 at 02:54:06 PM

Hello again, Comics Comics family,

Here we are with the update we meant to sent today, showing off the beginning of Richard P. Clark's painting process for the Kickstarter-exclusive hardcover art. To see what a finished painting by Richard looks like, check out the George Carlin he painted for HBO at the bottom of this update.

I'm so happy to be sharing this art with you today, because it is a reminder that this book is in active production (in fact, it's almost done), but we won't be able to bring it to the world if we don't fund. We have until Thursday at midnight and still have a ways to go. But if each of our smart, talented, and very attractive backers increased your pledge by just $10, that alone would get us halfway to the goal.

For those of you getting our digital edition, an extra $10 gets you a print edition you can give as a gift and the digital edition. For those of you pledging for the print edition, an extra $10 gets you a second copy you can give as a gift. And if you're getting the hardcover edition, an extra $15 adds a bookplate signed by Patton Oswalt, Jackie Kashian, and Sara Benincasa

And because we've had several requests, the new Alternative Headliner tier features both the signed hardcover and b&w-cover Comix Comix edition with Tijuana Bible by Dino Stamatopoulos for $70, a $10 savings off buying the tiers individually.

No matter what tier you pledge, anything extra you can add will help us make the difference between this book happening and not. We're down to just the last couple days, so everything matters and anyone you can convince to back us brings us that much closer. We so badly want to share these hilarious and beautiful stories with you.

Thank you so much,

Brendan

Dan Harmon Funko Pop Update
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 18, 2018 at 12:49:19 PM

Hi, Comics Comics family,

Our bad. We were so excited about our one-of-a-kind Dan Harmon Funko Pop that we missed that the rules don't allow contests or raffles. So I am terribly sorry for the previous incorrect update. We cannot offer the chance to win as a bonus for pledging at the $50 level. For anyone who increased their pledge to the signed hardcover level, I completely understand if you prefer to revert to your previous pledge level, but I hope the bookplate featuring art by Troy Nixey and signatures from Patton Oswalt, Jackie Kashian, and Sara Benincasa is enticing enough for you to consider keeping your pledge at that level.

We still have the Dan Funko, and we still want to share it with you, so it has been added to the project as a reward tier for the same $500 as the other custom Funkos, and it comes with the signed hardcover and a digital copy of the comic.

Again, my sincere apologies for our mistake, and thank you to everyone who has pledged to be part of this dream project.

Legendary funny book artist Evan Dorkin preview page + originals for sale!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 18, 2018 at 07:19:53 AM

Hello, Comics Comics family,

We have the first completed page of Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer's work on "Popular Fiction," the Comics Comics #1 story written by Eliot Rahal!

Evan is best known for Milk and Cheese, one of the comics—along with Peter Bagge's Hate—most responsible for me wanting to work in funny comics. Evan is also responsible for Dork, Eltingville, Superman and Batman: World's Funnest, and the classic Bill and Ted's Excellent Comic Book, as well such incredible non-humor comics as Beasts of Burden!

This has already been added to the project page, but I didn't want any backers to miss this, since getting art in from Evan and Sarah is a career highlight for me. Hope you enjoy!

We're also offering six of Evan's original Comics Comics pages, along with the signed hardcover and digital copy, for $300! The originals are 8 1/2" x 13 3/4". See the bottom of this update for an example.

Win a custom Dan Harmon Funko Pop!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Sep 17, 2018 at 06:01:43 PM

Hello, Comics Comics family,

Because we are so grateful to you all—and because we are big nerds—we've come up with a way to thank you for your support.

I'm sure I've babbled a bunch already about our Custom Funko Pop tier (just one left!), and I have, at least on Twitter, used our Dan Harmon Funko as an example. Dan is, of course, a founder and partner of our parent company Starburns Industries, as well as the creator of Community and the cocreator of Rick and Morty

Well, now all backers who have pledged $50 dollars or more are entered into a chance to win this one-of-a-kind Dan Harmon figure. If you've already pledged $50 or more, you're in. If you increase your pledge to $50, then you're also in. If you have previously pledged for any of the rewards below $50, your increase can get you our hardcover gift tier (two copies) or our signed hardcover, with a bookplate featuring signatures from Patton Oswalt, Jackie Kashian, and Sara Benincasa. And naturally any of the tiers above $50 also get you in the runnings.

Thanks once again for being part of this campaign, and I hope the chance to bring an adorable Dan Harmon home with you is appealing enough to boost your support. With just a few days left, every little bit helps.
